Thermal mapping catheter

A mapping and ablation catheter comprising:

• a catheter shaft comprising a proximal end and a distal end;
• a flexible framework coupled to the distal end of the catheter shaft at a proximal connector, wherein the flexible framework comprises six longitudinal arms extending distally from the proximal connector and arranged in a planar array, wherein each of the six longitudinally extending arms converge at a distal portion of the flexible framework to form three loops;
• a plurality of ring electrodes disposed on the flexible framework and configured to monitor mapping signals produced by a heart tissue, wherein the plurality of ring electrodes comprise greater than 32 ring electrodes disposed on the flexible framework;
• at least one additional electrode disposed on the distal end of the catheter shaft;
• a plurality of ablation electrodes disposed on the flexible framework, wherein the plurality of ablation electrodes are disposed at least one of longitudinally adjacent and transversely adjacent to one or more of the plurality of ring mapping electrodes in an alternating pattern;
• and
• an irrigation channel extending through the catheter shaft and an irrigation port disposed at the proximal connector at the distal end of the catheter shaft and in fluid communication with the irrigation channel, wherein a shape of the irrigation port is planar having a greater width than a height and configured to expel a fan shaped flow of fluid over the plurality of ring electrodes disposed on the flexible framework of three loops.
