Abstract
Compositions and methods for enhancing disease resistance in plants are disclosed.
Claims21
A plant defense composition comprising an effective amount of at least one ascaroside and an agronomically acceptable carrier, wherein said ascaroside comprises a fatty acid side chain attached via the ω-1 position, and wherein said effective amount is at least 0.1 μM.
A composition for increasing disease resistance in plants, said composition comprising an effective amount of at least one ascaroside and an agronomically acceptable carrier, wherein said ascaroside comprises a fatty acid side chain attached via the ω-1 position, and wherein said effective amount is at least 0.1 μM.
A method for increasing disease resistance in plants, said method comprising contacting said plant or part of said plant with a composition comprising an effective amount of an isolated ascaroside, wherein said effective amount of the ascaroside increases plant resistance to one or more pathogens and primes or induces an immune response in said plant, wherein said ascaroside comprises a fatty acid side chain attached via the ω-1 position, and wherein said effective amount is at least 0.1 μM.
A composition comprising at least one ascaroside and an agronomically acceptable carrier, wherein said ascaroside comprises a fatty acid side chain attached via the ω-1 position, and wherein the concentration of the ascaroside is at least 0.1 μM.
