An admixture comprising:
- (i) a metal powder or a metal oxide powder and (ii) a plurality of carbon nanoparticles wherein a level of an impurity metal in the plurality of carbon nanoparticles is less than 5 parts per million (ppm), wherein carbon nanoparticles of the plurality of carbon nanoparticles have a pour density greater than 0.2 milliliters per gram (mL/g), and wherein a carbon nanoparticle of the plurality of carbon nanoparticles has a lattice constant (Lc) greater than 3.0 nm and is configured to:
- (a) reduce the metal powder, the metal oxide powder, or a metal oxide surface of the metal powder;
- or
- (b) be incorporated into the metal powder and become part of a product.

A method comprising:
- (a) forming a plurality of carbon nanoparticles from a gas phase precursor;
- and
- (b) admixing the plurality of carbon nanoparticles in an admixture with a metal powder or metal oxide powder, wherein the admixture comprises (i) the metal powder or the metal oxide powder and (ii) the plurality of carbon nanoparticles wherein a level of an impurity metal in the plurality of carbon nanoparticles is less than 5 parts per million (ppm), wherein carbon nanoparticles of the plurality of carbon nanoparticles have a pour density greater than 0.2 milliliters per gram (mL/g), and wherein a carbon nanoparticle of the plurality of carbon nanoparticles has a lattice constant (Lc) greater than 3.0 nm and is configured to:
- (1) reduce the metal powder, the metal oxide powder, or a metal oxide surface of the metal powder;
- or
- (2) be incorporated into the metal powder and become part of a product.
