Abstract
The magnetic tape includes: a non-magnetic support; and a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder, in which the number of recesses existing on a surface of the magnetic layer and having an equivalent circle diameter of 0.25 μm or more and 0.55 μm or less is 10 or more and 500 or less per an area of 40 μm×40 μm, and standard deviation a of the number of the recesses in a width direction of the surface of the magnetic layer is 50 or less.

A magnetic tape comprising:
- a non-magnetic support;
- and
- a magnetic layer containing a ferromagnetic powder,
- wherein a number of recesses existing on a surface of the magnetic layer and having an equivalent circle diameter of 0.25 μm or more and 0.55 μm or less is 10 or more and 500 or less per an area of 40 μm×40 μm, and
- standard deviation σ of the number of the recesses in a width direction of the surface of the magnetic layer is 50 or less.
