Lighting module having field-replaceable optics, improved cooling, and tool-less mounting features

A lighting module, comprising:

• a heat sink defining a cavity with an opening;
• a LED light source, disposed in the cavity of the heat sink, to emit light;
• a driver module, comprising:
• driver circuitry to supply electrical power to the LED light source;
• and
• a driver housing, coupled to the heat sink and supporting the driver circuitry, to provide an electrically insulating barrier separating the driver circuitry from the heat sink;
• and
• an optical assembly, disposed within the cavity of the heat sink and coupled to the heat sink, to redirect the light emitted by the LED light source, the optical assembly comprising:
• an optic holder disposed entirely within the cavity and coupled to the heat sink via a tool-less coupling mechanism;
• and
• an optical lens disposed entirely within the cavity and directly coupled to the optic holder.

A lighting module, comprising:

• a heat sink comprising a sidewall having an opening and defining a first cavity that is accessible through the opening;
• a LED light source, disposed in the first cavity and coupled to the heat sink, to emit light passing through the opening;
• a driver module, comprising:
• a driver housing coupled to the heat sink and defining a second cavity;
• and
• driver circuitry, disposed within the second cavity of the driver housing, to supply electrical power to the LED light source;
• and
• an optical assembly, disposed within the first cavity and coupled to the heat sink, to redirect the light emitted by the LED light source, the optical assembly comprising:
• a cover lens removably coupled to the heat sink via a first tool-less coupling mechanism and enclosing the opening of the heat sink;
• an optic holder directly coupled to the heat sink via a second tool-less coupling mechanism, the optic holder being coupled to the heat sink separately from the cover lens;
• and
• an optical lens directly coupled to the optic holder and disposed between the LED light source and the cover lens,
• wherein the optical lens is coupled to the optic holder such that removal of the cover lens from the heat sink does not affect an alignment of the optical lens.
