Abstract
Embodiments describe a method of controlling a two-stroke internal combustion engine. A method of controlling a two-stroke internal combustion engine includes determining a base nominal exhaust gas temperature, determining a base barometric pressure correction to base nominal exhaust gas temperature, determining exhaust gas temperature differential, determining exhaust gas temperature injection correction, and utilizing the exhaust gas temperature injection correction to make a final short-term fuel or ignition correction.
Claims20
A method of controlling a two-stroke internal combustion engine, comprising:
- determining a base nominal exhaust gas temperature using a measured exhaust valve position and a measured engine speed;
- determining an exhaust gas temperature differential by comparing a current exhaust gas temperature to the base nominal exhaust gas temperature;
- utilizing the exhaust gas temperature differential, the measured exhaust valve position, and the measured engine speed to calculate an exhaust gas temperature injection correction;
- and
- implementing a fuel correction using the exhaust gas temperature injection correction, wherein the fuel correction controls a fuel injection amount in the two-stroke internal combustion engine.
A method of controlling a two-stroke internal combustion engine, comprising:
- determining a base nominal exhaust gas temperature using a measured exhaust valve position and a measured engine speed;
- determining an exhaust gas temperature differential by comparing a current exhaust gas temperature to the base nominal exhaust gas temperature;
- utilizing the exhaust gas temperature differential, the measured exhaust valve position, and the measured engine speed to calculate an exhaust gas temperature injection correction;
- and
- implementing an ignition correction using the exhaust gas temperature injection correction, wherein the ignition correction controls an ignition angle in the two-stroke internal combustion engine.
