Abstract
A method of processing red mud comprising: heating red mud to a predetermined temperature; grinding the red mud to a predetermined particle size; and physically extracting iron components from the red mud; physically extracting aluminum components from the red mud, said physically extracting of aluminum components being separate from the physically extracting of iron components, wherein the steps of physically extracting iron components and physically extracting aluminum components are performed without requiring addition of chemical additives to the red mud.
Claims14
A method of processing red mud comprising:
- heating red mud to a predetermined temperature;
- grinding the red mud to a predetermined particle size;
- physically extracting iron components from the red mud;
- and
- physically extracting aluminum components from the red mud, said physically extracting of aluminum components being separate from the physically extracting of iron components,
- wherein the method does not require addition of liquid or solid chemical additives to the red mud for physical extraction of iron components and physical extraction of aluminum components.
A method of processing red mud comprising:
- heating red mud to a predetermined temperature;
- grinding the red mud to a predetermined particle size;
- physically extracting iron components from the red mud;
- and
- physically extracting aluminum components from the red mud, said physically extracting of aluminum components being separate from the physically extracting of iron components,
- wherein the heating step comprises converting silicon components in the red mud to glass.
A method of processing red mud comprising:
- heating red mud to a predetermined temperature;
- grinding the red mud to a predetermined particle size;
- physically extracting iron components from the red mud to obtain separated iron components and iron-separated red mud;
- and
- physically extracting titanium components from the iron-separated red mud,
- wherein the method does not require addition of solid or liquid chemical additives to the red mud for physical extraction of iron components and physical extraction of titanium components.
A method of processing red mud comprising:
- heating red mud to a predetermined temperature;
- grinding the red mud to a predetermined particle size;
- physically extracting iron components from the red mud to obtain separated iron components and iron-separated red mud;
- and
- physically extracting titanium components from the iron-separated red mud,
- wherein the heating step comprises converting silicon components in the red mud to glass.
