Oxazolidinone compounds and methods of use thereof as antibacterial agents

A compound, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, of formula IB:

• wherein A is
• R8 is halogen or SO2CH3;
• each occurrence of R2 is independently selected from H, C1-C6alkyl, C2-C6alkenyl, and C3-C6 cycloalkyl, wherein said C1-C6alkyl, said C2-C6alkenyl, and said C3-C6cycloalkyl are optionally substituted with up to four substituents, which are independently selected from halogen, —OCH3, —OH, —NH2, —NHCH3, and —N(CH3)2;
• R3 is H, C1-C6alkyl, C2-C6alkenyl, C3-C6heterocycloalkyl and C3-C6cycloalkyl, wherein said C1-C6 alkyl, said C2-C6alkenyl, said C3-C6heterocycloalkyl and said C3-C6cycloalkyl are optionally substituted with up to four substituents, which are independently selected from halogen, methyl, —OCH3, —OH, —NH2, —NHCH3, and —N(CH3)2;
• and
• each occurrence of R9 is independently selected from H, C1-C6alkyl, and C3-C6 cycloalkyl
• m=is 0, 1, 2, or 3;
• R10 is selected from H, C1-C6alkyl and C3-C6cycloalkyl, wherein said C1-C6alkyl and said C3-C6 cycloalkyl are optionally substituted with from one to four substituents, which are independently selected from F, —OCH3, —OH, NH2, NHCH3, and N(CH3)2;
• R11 is selected from H, C1-C6alkyl and C3-C6cycloalkyl, —COR9, —COOR9, —CON(R9)2, and —SO2R9;
• each occurrence of R12 is independently selected from H, halogen, C1-C6alkyl, C3-C6cycloalkyl, benzyl, —OCF3, —OCHF2, —OR3, —CN, —NO2, —SR3, —SF5, —SCF3, —SOR3, —SO2R3, —S(═O)(═N)R2, —N(R2)2, —NR2COR3, —SO2N(R2)2, —NR2SO2R3, —COOH, —COR9, —COOR3, —CON(R2)2, and —C(R9)2N(R2)2, wherein said C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C6cycloalkyl, and benzyl are optionally substituted with up to four substituents independently selected from F, —OCH3, —OH, NH2, NHCH3, and N(CH3)2;
• R13 is selected from H, halogen, C1-C6alkyl, C3-C6cycloalkyl, benzyl, —OCF3, —OCHF2, —OR3, —CN, —NO2, —SR3, —SF5, —SCF3, —SOR3, —SO2R3, —S(═O)(═N)R2, —N(R2)2, —NR2COR3, —SO2N(R2)2, —NR2SO2R3, —COOH, —COR9, —COOR3, —CON(R2)2, and —C(R9)2N(R2)2, wherein said C1-C6 alkyl, C3-C6cycloalkyl, and benzyl are optionally substituted with up to four substituents independently selected from F, —OCH3, —OH, NH2, NHCH3, and N(CH3)2;
• and
• W is selected from O, S, SO, SO2, and S(═O)(═NH), wherein when A is
• then W is selected from S, SO, SO2, and S(═O)(═NH);
• and
• wherein --- represents a double or a single bond.
