Abstract
A fluid pump may include a power end, a fluid end having a cartridge bore, and a valve cartridge configured for insertion into, and removal from, the cartridge bore as a unit. The valve cartridge may include a cartridge body having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, a first valve assembly configured to control fluid flow through the fluid inlet, and a second valve assembly configured to control fluid flow through the fluid outlet.
Claims20
A valve cartridge for a fluid pump, comprising:
- a cartridge body defining a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a sidewall extending between the first end and the second end,
- the cartridge body having a plurality of fluid inlets through the sidewall and a plurality of fluid outlets;
- a first valve assembly configured to control fluid flow through the plurality of fluid inlets,
- the first valve assembly disposed inside the cartridge body, and
- the first valve assembly comprising:
- a first retainer element engaged with an inner surface of the cartridge body,
- a plurality of first valves engaged by the first retainer element, and
- a plurality of first biasing elements, to bias the plurality of first valves to a closed position, engaged by the first retainer element;
- and
- a second valve assembly configured to control fluid flow through the plurality of fluid outlets,
- the second valve assembly comprising:
- a second retainer element connected to an outer surface of the cartridge body,
- a plurality of second valves engaged by the second retainer element, and
- a plurality of second biasing elements, to bias the plurality of second valves to a closed position, engaged by the second retainer element,
- the valve cartridge configured for insertion into, and removal from, a cartridge bore in a housing of the fluid pump as a unit.

A valve cartridge for a fluid pump, comprising:
- a cartridge body defining a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a sidewall extending between the first end and the second end,
- the cartridge body defining a waist in the sidewall between the first end and the second, and
- the cartridge body having a plurality of fluid inlets through the sidewall on the waist and a plurality of fluid outlets;
- a first valve assembly configured to control fluid flow through the plurality of fluid inlets, the first valve assembly comprising:
- a plurality of first valves;
- and
- a plurality of first biasing elements to bias the plurality of first valves to a closed position;
- and
- a second valve assembly configured to control fluid flow through the plurality of fluid outlets, the second valve assembly comprising:
- a plurality of second valves;
- and
- a plurality of second biasing elements to bias the plurality of second valves to a closed position,
- the valve cartridge configured for insertion into, and removal from, a cartridge bore in a housing of the fluid pump as a unit.

A fluid pump, comprising:
- a power end;
- a fluid end having a cartridge bore and a plunger;
- and
- a valve cartridge configured for insertion into, and removal from, the cartridge bore as a unit, the valve cartridge comprising:
- a cartridge body defining a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and a sidewall extending between the first end and the second end,
- the first end having an opening configured to fluidly couple the valve cartridge with the plunger, and
- the cartridge body having a plurality of fluid inlets through the sidewall and a plurality of fluid outlets;
- a first valve assembly configured to control fluid flow through the plurality of fluid inlets, the first valve assembly comprising a plurality of first valves;
- and
- a second valve assembly configured to control fluid flow through the plurality of fluid outlets, the second valve assembly comprising a plurality of second valves.
