Mobile terminal having a light source and an application to extract embedded information from an illuminated printed image and method

A method for extracting additional information from a printed image in which the additional information is embedded, comprising:

• changing whether or not to illuminate the printed image using a light source according to a user instruction or according to whether or not a camera is active;
• and
• extracting the additional information from the printed image by an application,
• wherein the embedded additional information is multiplex embedded by modulating at least one color component of image data representing a first image in a predetermined area of the printed image,
• wherein the application includes an auto white balance adjustment function for automatically adjusting a white balance of an image captured by the camera, and
• wherein, in a case where the process for extracting the embedded additional information is performed and the camera is active, the process for extracting the embedded additional information from the first image illuminated by the light source without applying the auto white balance adjustment function.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a program for performing a method for extracting additional information from a printed image in which the additional information is embedded, the method comprising:

• changing whether or not to illuminate the printed image using a light source according to a user instruction or according to whether or not a camera is active;
• and
• extracting the embedded additional information from the printed image by an application,
• wherein the embedded additional information is multiplex embedded by modulating at least one color component of image data representing a first image in a predetermined area of the printed image,
• wherein the application includes an auto white balance adjustment function for automatically adjusting a white balance of an image captured by the camera, and
• wherein, in a case where a process for extracting the embedded additional information is performed and the camera is active, the process for extracting the embedded additional information from the first image illuminated by the light source is performed without applying the auto white balance adjustment function.
