Abstract
Systems and methods for managing inventory, including one or more devices, such as computers or other terminal devices and/or computer systems, for managing inventory through the supply chain and lifecycle of a product. The system and method may include features for receiving the same or similar information associated with a plurality of products from a manufacturer, a distributor, and/or a consumer or other user, and associating various information, such as product location, quantity, and/or condition information with the products via one or more RFID devices operating at a plurality of frequencies, at any one or more locations, by any one or more devices, during the product lifecycle.
Claims18
A system, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor coupled to the memory and configured to execute instructions, wherein the instructions cause the processor to:
- receive first identification information from a dual-frequency radio frequency identification (RFID) tag affixed to a product at a first frequency or receive second identification information from the dual-frequency RFID tag affixed to the product at a second frequency at a location of distribution of the product;
- register a status of the product based on either the first identification information or the second identification information in the memory which includes additional characteristic information provided by a RFID reader;
- receive the second identification information from the dual-frequency RFID tag affixed to the product at the second frequency or receive the first identification information from the dual-frequency RFID tag affixed to the product at the first frequency at a location of use of the product;
- and
- update the status in the memory based on either the second identification information or the first identification information,
- wherein the second identification information includes at least same first identification information.
A method, comprising:
- receiving first identification information from a dual-frequency radio frequency identification (RFID) tag affixed to a product or receive second identification information from the dual-frequency RFID tag affixed to the product at a location of distribution of the product;
- registering a status of the product based on receiving either the first identification information or the second identification information in a memory which includes additional characteristic information provided by a RFID reader;
- receiving the second identification information from the dual-frequency RFID tag affixed to the product or receiving the first identification information from the dual-frequency RFID tag affixed to the product at a location of use of the product;
- and
- updating the status in the memory based on receiving either the second identification information or the first identification information;
- wherein the second identification information includes at least same first identification information.
