Abstract
A trailer system and method of use for towing a load are provided. The trailer system include a trailer body supported by suspension arms on a trailer frame. A hoist mechanism having a winch device and a flexible connector can raise and lower the trailer body by swinging on the suspension arms, which maintain the trailer body in a substantially horizontal orientation during the swing. A modular wheel suspension can be attached to the trailer system.
Claims16
A trailer comprising:
- a trailer frame comprising a side arm;
- a trailer body comprising a sidewall defining a load space, wherein the side arm is beside the sidewall and opposite to the load space;
- a suspension apparatus for adjusting the height of the trailer body, between a raised position and a lowered position relative to the trailer frame, the suspension apparatus comprising:
- a suspension arm having a first end rotatably attached to the side arm at a rotation point and a second end;
- a spacer arranged between the sidewall and the second end of the suspension arm, wherein the second end is rotatably or slidably attached to the spacer at a swing point;
- such that the height of the trailer body is adjustable on the trailer frame by swinging the trailer body on the suspension arm.

- a trailer body comprising a sidewall that defines a load space, wherein the side arm is beside the sidewall and opposite to the load space;
- a suspension apparatus for adjusting the height of the trailer body between a raised position and a lowered position relative to the trailer frame, the suspension apparatus comprising:
- a suspension arm having a first end rotatably attached to the side arm at a rotation point and a second end rotatably attached to the sidewall at a swing point, wherein the suspension arm comprises a bend, such that the second end of the suspension arm is closer to the sidewall than is the first end of the suspension arm.
