Abstract
A fan assembly comprising a plurality of nested components comprising a first stator; a first rotor that is radially spaced from the first stator, wherein the first rotor is magnetically driven by the first stator, the first rotor includes a second stator whereby the second stator rotates with the first rotor; a second rotor that is radially spaced from the second stator, wherein the second rotor is magnetically driven by the second stator; and, a fan blade drivenly connected to the second rotor.
Claims18
A fan assembly comprising a plurality of nested components comprising:
- (a) a first stator;
- (b) a first rotor that is radially spaced from the first stator, wherein the first rotor is magnetically driven by the first stator to rotate with a first rotational speed relative to the first stator, the first rotor includes a second stator whereby the second stator rotates with the first rotor;
- (c) a second rotor that is radially spaced from the second stator, wherein the second rotor is magnetically driven by the second stator to rotate with a second rotational speed relative to the second stator;
- and,
- (d) a fan blade drivingly connected to the second rotor;
- wherein the fan assembly is operable to drive the fan blade at a third rotational speed that is defined by constructively combining the first rotational speed of the first rotor with the second rotational speed of the second rotor, wherein the third rotational speed is greater than each of the first rotational speed and the second rotational speed.
An assembly comprising a first motor at least partially nested in a second motor wherein:
- (a) the first motor comprises a first rotor and a first stator;
- and,
- (b) the second motor comprises a second rotor and a second stator,
- wherein the first rotor rotates about an axis of rotation;
- and a plane, that is transverse to the axis of rotation, extends through the first rotor, the second stator and the second rotor;
- wherein the second rotor is located radially outwardly from the second stator.
An assembly comprising a first motor at least partially nested in a second motor wherein:
- (a) the first motor comprises a first rotor and a first stator;
- and,
- (b) the second motor comprises a second rotor and a second stator, wherein the first rotor includes the second stator whereby the second stator rotates concurrently with the first rotor.
