PEX tubing expander head

An expansion toolhead configured to enable an expansion of at least a first size PEX tubing and a second size PEX tubing the expansion toolhead comprising:

• a cap defining an inner aperture and a threaded portion enabling the cap to be threadably coupled to an expansion tool;
• a plurality of jaws extending through a portion of the inner aperture of the cap, the plurality of jaws collectively forming a jaw section defining a PEX tubing interface portion including at least a first land for expansion of the first size PEX tubing and a second land for expansion of a the second size PEX tubing,
• wherein the PEX tubing interface portion further includes a first ramp portion having a first pitch angle configured to provide a gradual transition between a distal end of the PEX tubing interface portion and the first land, and a riser positioned proximal to the first land to provide a proximal stop for the first size PEX tubing expanded by the first land, and
• wherein the PEX tubing interface portion further includes a second ramp portion having a second pitch angle configured to provide a gradual transition between the riser and the second land, wherein the second land extends into the inner aperture of the cap, wherein the second land extends into the inner aperture of the cap by a length sufficient to enable the second size PEX tubing to be positioned partially within the inner aperture during expansion, thereby reducing an overall length of the expansion toolhead, and wherein the second land terminates at a distal end positioned adjacent to a radial extension received within a radial slot defined by the cap, wherein the PEX tubing interface portion extends to the distal end of the second land positioned within the inner aperture of the cap.
