Abstract
A self-cleaning screen is formed via additive printing. The dimensions of the self-cleaning screen are modified. Supports are printed via additive printing. The supports are formed over a plurality of wires. Side seals may be additively printed along major sides of the plurality of wires. Wear of the screens is monitored.
Claims19
A system for manufacturing self-cleaning screens, the system comprising:
- an input/output interface;
- at least one additive printer;
- a controller including a processor, a memory unit, and a communication component operatively interacting with the input/output interface and the at least one additive printer;
- and
- wherein the controller is configured to generate a three-dimensional model, provided to the additive printer, so as to produce a self-cleaning screen in which at least one support is formed by disposing successive layers of material around or onto a plurality of spaced apart, parallel wires.

- a print bed that is movable relative to the additive printer in three separate axes.

A self-cleaning screen comprising:
- a plurality of wires operatively positioned generally parallel to each other so as to form a first side, an opposing side, a proximal end, and a distal end;
- a plurality of additively printed polymeric supports and/or slats extending from the first side to the opposing side, with at least two of the supports oriented parallel or perpendicular to one another;
- and
- wherein at least one of the additively printed support and the additively printed seal are made from multiple layers of thermoplastic.
