Abstract
Delivery devices for delivering an ophthalmic device into an eye. In some embodiments the delivery devices are adapted to deliver an intraocular lens into an eye.
Claims18
An apparatus for deploying an intraocular lens, comprising:
- a delivery device comprising a fluid therein and a substantially circular lens receiving area, wherein the substantially circular lens receiving area is oriented in a longitudinal direction of the delivery device, wherein the lens receiving area is adapted to hold the intraocular lens in a deformed configuration;
- a plunger disposed at a proximal end of the delivery device;
- and
- a distal portion of the delivery device,
- wherein the plunger is adapted to be actuated in a distal direction to cause the fluid to flow in a distal direction to force the intraocular lens through the distal portion.

A system for deploying an intraocular lens, comprising:
- a delivery device comprising a fluid therein and a lens receiving area, wherein the lens receiving area is adapted to hold the intraocular lens in a deformed configuration;
- a plunger disposed at a proximal end of the delivery device;
- and
- a tapered portion at a distal end of the delivery device, wherein the lens receiving area is positioned proximal to the tapered portion,
- wherein the plunger is adapted to be actuated in a distal direction to cause the fluid to flow in a distal direction to force the intraocular lens through the tapered portion.
