Abstract
A system and method for floodwater redistribution is disclosed. The system being comprised of onshore and offshore pump stations and pipelines deployed along the Gulf Coast to redistribute floodwaters to reservoirs located in the western United States. The pump stations include a network of controllers which monitor input/output head pressures and pump speeds and submit the data to the system server to determine the pump settings needed to optimize water flow along the line.
Claims18
A system for floodwater redistribution comprising:
- a plurality of geographically distributed onshore floodwater capture basins;
- a plurality of onshore pump stations, located on land, each onshore pump station of the plurality of onshore pump stations, including a first pump, and connected to at least one onshore floodwater capture basin of a plurality of onshore floodwater capture basins;
- a plurality of offshore pump stations, located in the ocean, each offshore pump station of the plurality of offshore pump stations, including a second pump, and connected to at least one onshore pump station of the plurality of onshore pump stations by an entrance transmission pipeline of a plurality of entrance transmission pipelines;
- wherein the plurality of offshore pump stations is connected in series by a plurality of sub sea-level transmission pipelines;
- and,
- wherein at least one terminal transmission pipeline is connected to a sub sea-level transmission pipeline of the plurality of sub sea-level transmission pipelines.
