Dynamic spectrum and capacity reorganization in satellite systems

A method comprising:

• creating a spectrum configuration plan for allocation of spectrum resources within a predetermined coverage area of a satellite communications network to facilitate future data communications of a particular customer by one or more gateways and a plurality of user terminals serviced by the one or more gateways within the predetermined coverage area, wherein the spectrum configuration plan includes information configured to reflect modifications to a prior plan which are required to facilitate the future data communications of the particular customer;
• providing the spectrum configuration plan to a network management system of the satellite communications network;
• validating the spectrum configuration plan to determine that is follows respective syntax requirements and will be compatible with other data communications operations of the satellite communications network;
• dynamically implementing the spectrum configuration plan by configuring system components of the satellite communications network to support the future data communications in accordance with the spectrum configuration plan at a predetermined point, without interruption of the other data communications operations of the satellite communications network;
• transmitting the spectrum configuration plan to the plurality of user terminals serviced by the one or more gateways.
