Abstract
Beverage containers and methods of coating are provided. The beverage containers include a metal substrate that is at least partially coated with a coating prepared from a composition that includes a binder system, a cross linker, and a catalyst.
Claims20
An aqueous coating composition comprising:
- a carrier fluid;
- at least about 50% by weight percent of one or more polyolefin polymers, based on the total resin solids of the coating composition;
- a nitrogen-containing carboxyl reactive cross linker;
- and
- a water-dispersible transition metal catalyst;
- wherein the aqueous coating composition is an easy open beverage can end coating composition, and wherein the aqueous coating composition, when applied to a cleaned and chrome-free pretreated aluminum panel and cured for 12 seconds to a peak metal temperature of 249° C. to achieve a dried film thickness of approximately 12 grams per square meter, exhibits, if any, 0.5 mm or less of feathering.
