A solution for thinning a coating on a plurality of razor blades, said solution comprising one or more defluorination compounds, said one or more defluorination compounds comprising C14Fn, wherein n=10 to 23, wherein said solution comprises a yellow color due, at least in part, to the one or more defluorination compounds, said yellow color indicating said solution is in an ideal state for thinning said coating.
