Abstract
Digital signage unit, such as for digital out of home advertising, with monitoring features are provided. The digital signage unit include an electronic display, a shock sensor, and a controller which receives data from the shock sensor and determines, on an ongoing basis, an operating status of the digital signage unit based, at least in part, the data from the shock sensor.

A display unit with monitoring features, said display unit comprising:
- an electronic display;
- a shock sensor;
- and
- a controller configured to:
- receive data from said shock sensor;
- and
- determine, on an ongoing basis, an operating status of the display unit based, at least in part, on the data from the shock sensor.

A method of remotely monitoring a display unit, said method comprising:
- providing the display unit, said display unit comprising:
- an electronic display;
- a shock sensor;
- and
- a controller;
- receiving, on an ongoing basis, at the controller, data from said shock sensor;
- and
- determining, on an ongoing basis, at the controller, an operating status of the display unit based, at least in part, on the data received from the shock sensor.
