Bar hanger assembly with crossmembers and housing assemblies using same

A bar hanger assembly, comprising:

• a first bar hanger;
• a second bar hanger;
• and
• a crossmember, comprising:
• a base;
• a first flange directly joined to the base, the first flange comprising:
• a first wall coupled to the base and the first bar hanger, the first wall having a first notched portion to provide clearance for a T-bar to pass through when the bar hanger assembly is installed onto the T-bar;
• and
• a second wall, directly joined to the first wall, to abut a side of a joist when the bar hanger assembly is installed onto the joist, the second wall having a first fastener opening;
• a second flange directly joined to the base, the second flange comprising:
• a third wall coupled to the base and the second bar hanger, the third wall having a second notched portion to provide clearance for the T-bar to pass through when the bar hanger assembly is installed onto the T-bar;
• and
• a fourth wall, directly joined to the third wall, to abut the side of the joist when the bar hanger assembly is installed onto the joist, the second wall having a second fastener opening.

A bar hanger assembly, comprising:

• a first bar hanger;
• a second bar hanger;
• and
• a crossmember configured to couple to a support structure when the bar hanger assembly is installed onto the support structure, the crossmember comprising:
• a first mounting feature configured to couple the crossmember to a joist as the support structure;
• a second mounting feature configured to couple the crossmember to a T-bar as the support structure;
• and
• a third mounting feature configured to couple the crossmember to a hat channel as the support structure, the third mounting feature comprising:
• a flange having a fastener opening,
• wherein when the bar hanger assembly is installed onto the hat channel, the flange is oriented substantially horizontal and abuts a bottom side of the hat channel and a fastener is inserted through the fastener opening so as to securely attach the flange directly to the bottom side of the hat channel.
