Abstract
A method performed by a surgical robotic system that includes a seat that is arranged for a user to sit and a display column that includes at least one display for displaying a three-dimensional (3D) surgical presentation. The method includes receiving an indication that the user has manually adjusted the seat and in response, determining, while the user is sitting on the seat, a position of the user's eyes, determining a configuration for the display column based on the determined position of the user's eyes, and adjusting the display column by actuating one or more actuators of the display column according to the determined configuration.
Claims21
An adjustable user console for a surgical robotic system comprising:
- a display for displaying a three-dimensional (3D) surgical presentation;
- an eye tracking system for tracking eyes of a user;
- one or more actuators coupled to the display;
- at least one processor;
- and
- memory having stored therein instructions which when executed by the at least one processor causes the adjustable user console to:
- determine 1) a 3D perception workspace for the display and 2) an eye tracking workspace for the eye tracking system according to a current configuration of the adjustable user console, wherein the 3D perception workspace and the eye tracking workspace are both different volumes of space in front of the display,
- determine, using the eye tracking system, whether the eyes of the user are outside either of the 3D perception workspace or the eye tracking workspace,
- in response to determining that the eyes of the user are outside either the 3D perception workspace or the eye tracking workspace, determine a new configuration for the adjustable user console in which the eyes of the user are inside the 3D perception workspace and the eye tracking workspace, and
- adjust the display according to the new configuration by actuating the one or more actuators.
An apparatus comprising:
- a display column that has:
- a display for displaying a three-dimensional (3D) surgical presentation,
- an eye tracking system for tracking eyes of a user, and
- one or more actuators;
- and
- a controller that is configured to 1) determine a 3D perception workspace for the display and an eye tracking workspace for the eye tracking system according to a current configuration of the apparatus, 2) determine, using the eye tracking system, whether the eyes of the user are outside either of the 3D perception workspace or the eye tracking workspace, 3) responsive to determining that the eyes of the user are outside either the 3D perception workspace or the eye tracking workspace, determine a new configuration for the apparatus in which the eyes of the user are inside the 3D perception workspace and the eye tracking workspace, 4) and adjust the display according to the new configuration by actuating the one or more actuators, wherein the 3D perception workspace and the eye tracking workspace are both different volumes of space in front of the display.
A method for adjusting an adjustable user console of a surgical robotic system, the method comprises:
- determining 1) a three-dimensional (3D) perception workspace for a display of the adjustable user console and 2) an eye tracking workspace for an eye tracking system of the adjustable user console, according to a current configuration of the adjustable user console, wherein the 3D perception workspace and the eye tracking workspace are both different volumes of space in front of the display;
- determining, using the eye tracking system, whether eyes of a user are outside either the 3D perception workspace or the eye tracking workspace;
- in response to determining that the eyes of the user are outside either the 3D perception workspace or the eye tracking workspace, determining a new configuration for the adjustable user console in which the eyes of the user are inside the 3D perception workspace and the eye tracking workspace;
- and
- adjusting the adjustable user console according to the new configuration by actuating one or more actuators of the display or a seat of the adjustable user console.
