Abstract
Headend nodes on a communication network can be configured to recover from a change of network conditions by generating new paths for demands. A headend node can generate paths both for demand(s) managed by the headend and other demand(s) managed by other headend(s). The headend nodes can be initialized with the same network representation and can deterministically identify paths, such that each headend identifies the same path for the same demand. The headend nodes can provide configuration instructions for the demands that they manage, but can provide them according to a deterministic schedule, to avoid conflicts.
Claims20
A headend node, comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- at least one computer readable medium containing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the headend node to perform operations comprising:
- obtaining network information for a communication network, the network information specifying:
- a network graph representing the communication network;
- and
- demands on the communication network, the demands including a first subset of the demands managed by the headend node and a second subset of the demands managed by other headend nodes;
- and
- in response to satisfaction of a trigger condition:
- determining paths on the network graph using a deterministic path-finding method, the determined paths corresponding to the demands and having a deterministic ordering;
- and
- configuring the communication network to satisfy the first subset of the demands, the configuring comprising:
- providing configuration instructions to configure the communication network to satisfy a first demand of the first subset using a first route, the first route implementing a first path of the determined paths, the first path corresponding to the first demand;
- and
- wherein the provision of the configuration instructions is delayed until a completion condition based on the deterministic ordering is satisfied.
A communication system, comprising:
- nodes connected by communication links, the nodes including headend nodes responsible for managing demands on a communication network, each headend node configured to perform, in response to satisfaction of a trigger condition, operations including:
- determining paths on a network graph using a deterministic path-finding method,
- the determined paths corresponding to the demands and having a deterministic ordering, the demands including a first subset of demands managed by the headend node and a second subset of demands managed by other headend nodes;
- providing configuration instructions to configure the communication network to satisfy the first subset of demands using routes that implement a corresponding subset of the determined paths;
- and
- wherein the provision of the configuration instructions to configure the communication network to satisfy a first demand in the first subset is delayed until a completion condition associated with the first demand in the first subset is satisfied.
