Abstract
Antimicrobial and/or anti-odor textile coating composition that reduce and/or prevent bacterial growth and/or control odor(s) on a textile material treated for a prolonged time period including up to, for example, fifty wash cycles. The textile coating compositions may include benzoic acid and at least one of terephthalic acid, and/or a quat silane.
Claims30
An antimicrobial and/or anti-odor, textile coating composition that reduces and/or prevents microbial growth and/or controls odor(s) on a textile material comprising:
- (a) benzoic acid at a concentration of 5 weight % to 50 weight % based on the total weight of the composition;
- (b) terephthalic acid at a concentration of 5 weight % to 20 weight % based on the total weight of the composition;
- (c) water;
- and
- (d) at least one of a dispersant, defoamer, rheology modifier, or any combination thereof,
- wherein the benzoic acid and the terephthalic acid are present in the composition at a ratio of 2:1 to 8:1.
