Abstract
Implementations for compositing two input signals to form a higher quality signal are described. A first input signal is received from a first input device and a second input signal is received from a second input device. The first input signal and the second input signal are combined into a composite input signal. It is then determined that the composite input signal has a higher quality than either the first input signal or the second input signal individually. Based on that determination, the composite input signal is selected for use by the media conferencing service as part of a media conference.
Claims17
A method for generating a composite input signal, the method comprising:
- identifying a participant device to a media conference;
- selecting, in response to the identifying the participant device, a first input device of the participant device as a selected input device;
- receiving, from the first input device, a first input signal;
- determining that a first characteristic of the first input signal does not satisfy a threshold;
- activating, in response to the determining that the first characteristic of the first input signal does not satisfy the threshold, a second input device of the participant device;
- receiving, from the second input device, a second input signal;
- combining the first input signal and the second input signal into the composite input signal;
- determining that the composite input signal has a higher quality than either the first input signal or the second input signal individually;
- and
- outputting the composite input signal.
A media conferencing service comprising:
- a computing node and a non-transitory computer-readable medium, the non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored therein computer-readable instructions that, upon execution by the computing node, configure the media conferencing service to perform operations comprising:
- receiving, from a first microphone, a first audio signal;
- determining that a characteristic of the first audio signal does not satisfy a threshold;
- activating, in response to the determining that the characteristic of the first audio signal does not satisfy the threshold, a second microphone;
- receiving, from the second microphone, a second audio signal;
- combining the first audio signal and the second audio signal into a composite audio signal;
- determining that the composite audio signal has a higher quality than either the first audio signal or the second audio signal individually;
- and
- selecting the composite audio signal for use by the media conferencing service as part of a media conference.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having stored thereon computer-readable instructions, the computer-readable instructions comprising instructions that, upon execution on one or more computing devices, at least cause:
- receiving, from a first input device, a first input signal;
- determining that a characteristic of the first input signal does not satisfy a threshold;
- activating, in response to the determining that the characteristic of the first input signal does not satisfy the threshold, a second input device;
- receiving, from the second input device, a second input signal;
- combining the first input signal and the second input signal into a composite input signal;
- and
- determining that the composite input signal has a higher quality than either the first input signal or the second input signal individually;
- and
- selecting the composite input signal.
