- an inner shirt comprising a front panel and a rear panel, the front panel and the rear panel of the inner shirt being a woven single layer formed of a polyester fabric that defines at least portions of an exterior surface and an interior surface of the of the inner shirt, the inner shirt having a first pocket directly attached to the front panel of the inner shirt, the first pocket adapted to receive a first ballistic panel of the body armor;
- an outer shirt having a second pocket directly attached to a rear panel of the outer shirt the second pocket adapted to receive a second ballistic panel of the body armor;
- at least one first connector extending from an upper portion of the first pocket to an upper portion of the second pocket, the at least one first connector having a first end connected directly to the first pocket and a second end connected directly to the second pocket;
- at least one second connector extending from a lower portion of the first pocket to a lower portion of the second pocket, the at least one second connector having a first end connected directly to the first pocket and a second end connected directly to the second pocket;
- at least one first opening formed in an upper portion of the rear panel of the outer shirt for receiving a portion of the at least one first connector;
- and
- at least one second opening formed in a lower portion of the rear panel of the outer shirt for receiving a portion of the at least one second connector,
- wherein the at least one first connector extends directly from the upper portion of the first pocket to the upper portion of the second pocket through the at least one first opening of the outer shirt, and the at least one second connector extends directly from the lower portion of the first pocket to the lower portion of the second pocket through the at least one second opening of the outer shirt, and
- wherein each of the at least one first connector and the at least one second connector extend from an exterior surface of the outer shirt, through the respective at least one first opening and at least one second opening, to an interior surface of the outer shirt.
A shirt system for supporting body armor, comprising:
- an inner shirt comprising a front panel and a rear panel, at least the rear panel of the inner shirt being woven single layer formed of a polyester fabric that defines at least portions of an exterior surface and an interior surface of the inner shirt, the inner shirt having a first pocket that is permanently and directly attached to the front panel of the inner shirt along the exterior surface of the inner shirt;
- an outer shirt having a second pocket that is permanently and directly attached to a rear panel of the outer shirt along an exterior surface of the outer shirt;
- a first ballistic panel received in the first pocket;
- a second ballistic panel received in the second pocket;
- at least one connector attaching the first pocket to the second pocket;
- and
- at least one opening formed in the rear panel of the outer shirt for receiving a portion of the at least one connector,
- wherein the at least one connector extends directly from the first pocket to the second pocket through the at least one opening in the outer shirt,
- wherein the at least one connector has a first end connected directly to the first pocket and a second end connected directly to the second pocket, and
- wherein the at least one connector extends from the exterior surface of the outer shirt, through the at least one opening, to an interior surface of the outer shirt.
A system configured to receive body armor, the system comprising:
- an inner shirt comprising:
- a front panel that is a single woven layer formed of a polyester fabric, the front panel defining at least portions of an exterior surface and an interior surface of the inner shirt;
- a rear panel that is a single woven layer formed of a polyester fabric, the rear panel defining at least portions of the exterior surface and the interior surface of the inner shirt;
- and
- a first pocket permanently and directly attached to the front panel of the inner shirt, the first pocket adapted to receive a first ballistic panel;
- a second shirt comprising:
- a front panel;
- a rear panel;
- a second pocket permanently and directly attached to the rear panel of the second shirt, the second pocket adapted to receive a second ballistic panel;
- a first opening in an upper portion of the rear panel of the second shirt;
- and
- a second opening in a lower portion of the rear panel of the second shirt;
- and
- a strap having a first end connected directly to the first pocket and a second end connected directly to the second pocket, the strap being configured to extend through the first opening or the second opening of the rear panel of the second shirt.
