Offset shackle and locking device including same

A locking device comprising:

• a lock body;
• a locking mechanism within the lock body;
• and
• a shackle having:
• a first end;
• a second end;
• a plurality of bends between the first end and the second end, thereby forming:
• a first segment between the first end and a first bend, the first segment including an arcuate portion adjacent the first bend;
• a second segment comprising an entirety of the shackle between the first bend and a second bend;
• a third segment comprising an entirety of the shackle between the second bend and a third bend;
• and
• a fourth segment between the third bend and the second end, the fourth segment including an arcuate portion adjacent the third bend,
• wherein the first segment lies in a first plane and the fourth segment is substantially co-planar with the first segment, the second segment lies in a second plane substantially perpendicular to the first plane and the third segment is substantially co-planar with the second segment, and the second segment is disposed more distally from both the first end and the second end than is the third segment, and
• wherein at least one of the first end and the second end of the shackle is alternately removable from the lock body and securable within the lock body by the locking mechanism.
