Abstract
A personalized fixation system includes a surgical planning software tool configured to adjust relationships of relevant anatomy of a subject, at least one bone anchor, a plate having a shape that does not conform to a single plane, the plate configured to accept the at least one bone anchor, wherein the shape of the plate is at least partially determined by the surgical planning software tool, and wherein the plate includes at least one node having a hole configured to receive the at least one bone anchor, and a locking element configured to connect the at least one bone anchor to the plate, wherein the plate is manufactured using additive manufacturing.
Claims23
A computer-implemented method of designing one or more patient-specific spinal implants, the method comprising:
- generating a three-dimensional virtual model of at least a portion of a subject's spinal anatomy;
- receiving, from a user, one or more proposed changes to the subject's spinal anatomy, wherein the one or more proposed changes include changes to a spatial relationship between at least two vertebrae;
- adjusting the subjects' spinal anatomy in the three-dimensional virtual model to change the spatial relationship between the at least two vertebrae based on the one or more proposed changes;
- measuring the adjusted spinal anatomy in the three-dimensional virtual model to obtain one or more measurements associated with at least one of a pelvic tilt, sagittal alignment, or lumbar lordosis of the adjusted spinal anatomy;
- comparing the one or more measurements to one or more predictive guidelines to determine if the adjusted spinal anatomy conforms to the one or more predictive guidelines, wherein the predictive guidelines include predetermined values for one or more of pelvic tilt, sagittal alignment, or lumbar lordosis;
- and
- at least partially in response to the adjusted spinal anatomy conforming to the one or more predictive guidelines, designing one or more patient-specific implants for achieving the corrected spinal geometry when implanted in the subject.
A computer-implemented method of designing one or more patient-specific spinal implants, the method comprising:
- generating a three-dimensional virtual model of at least a portion of a subject's spinal anatomy;
- receiving, from a user, one or more proposed changes to the subject's spinal anatomy:
- adjusting the subjects' spinal anatomy in the three-dimensional virtual model based on the one or more proposed changes;
- measuring the adjusted spinal anatomy in the three-dimensional virtual model to obtain one or more measurements associated with at least one of a pelvic tilt, sagittal alignment, or lumbar lordosis of the adjusted spinal anatomy;
- comparing the one or more measurements to one or more predictive guidelines to determine if the adjusted spinal anatomy conforms to the one or more predictive guidelines, wherein the predictive guidelines include predetermined values for one or more of pelvic tilt, sagittal alignment, or lumbar lordosis;
- and
- at least partially in response to the adjusted spinal anatomy conforming to the one or more predictive guidelines, designing one or more patient-specific implants for achieving the corrected spinal geometry when implanted in the subject, wherein the one or more patient specific implants include a spinal implant and a bone anchor configured to anchor the spinal implant to a bony structure of the patient, and wherein the one or more patient specific implants further include a cam configured to be rotated after the bone anchor anchors the spinal implant to the bony structure to fix a relationship between the bone anchor and the spinal implant.
A computer-implemented method of designing one or more patient-specific spinal implants, the method comprising:
- generating a three-dimensional virtual model of at least a portion of a subject's spinal anatomy;
- receiving, from a user, one or more proposed changes to the subject's spinal anatomy wherein the one or more proposed changes include changes to a spatial relationship between at least two vertebrae;
- adjusting the subjects' spinal anatomy in the three-dimensional virtual model to change the spatial relationship between the at least two vertebrae based at least in part on one or more proposed changes;
- measuring the adjusted spinal anatomy in the three-dimensional virtual model to obtain one or more measurements associated with at least one of a pelvic tilt, sagittal alignment, or lumbar lordosis;
- and
- in response to receiving an indication of approval of the one or more measurements and/or the adjusted spinal anatomy associated with the one or more measurements, designing one or more patient-specific implants for achieving the corrected spinal geometry when implanted in the subject.
A computer-implemented method of designing one or more patient-specific spinal implants, the method comprising:
