Image processing apparatus, image processing method, and storage medium for generating a name using characters recognized in image data

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing thereon a program which, when loaded into a computer and executed, causes the computer to execute a process, the process comprising:

• generating a name using characters recognized in image data, assigning the name to the image data, and storing the image data;
• making a request for approval by a user regarding the name, transmitting the image data to an external apparatus after the image data is approved by the user, and deleting the image data;
• in a case where a period of storing the image data has exceeded a predetermined period without the name being approved by the user, and a first likelihood that an area corresponding to the recognized characters to be used for generating the name is a correct area as an area to be used for generation of the name exceeds a predetermined value regardless of a second likelihood that the recognized characters to be used for generating the name are recognized correctly, transmitting, without the approval by the user, the image data to the external apparatus before deleting the image data;
• and
• in a case where the period of storing the image data has exceeded the predetermined period without the name being approved by the user, and the first likelihood that the area corresponding to the recognized characters to be used for generating the name is a correct area as an area to be used for generation of the name does not exceed the predetermined value regardless of the second likelihood that the recognized characters to be used for generating the name are recognized correctly, sending an email to which the image data is attached to the user and deleting the image data that has exceeded the predetermined storage period without transmitting the image data to the external apparatus.

A method of processing information by an information processing apparatus, the method comprising:

• generating a name using characters recognized in image data, assigning the name to the image data, and storing the image data;
• making a request for approval by a user regarding the name, transmitting the image data to an external apparatus after the image data is approved by the user, and deleting the image data;
• in a case where a period of storing the image data has exceeded a predetermined period without the name being approved by the user, and a first likelihood that an area corresponding to the recognized characters to be used for generating the name is a correct area as an area to be used for generation of the name exceeds a predetermined value regardless of a second likelihood that the recognized characters to be used for generating the name are recognized correctly, transmitting, without the approval by the user, the image data to the external apparatus before deleting the image data;
• and
• in a case where the period of storing the image data has exceeded the predetermined period without the name being approved by the user, and the first likelihood that the area corresponding to the recognized characters to be used for generating the name is a correct area as an area to be used for generation of the name does not exceed the predetermined value regardless of the second likelihood that the recognized characters to be used for generating the name are recognized correctly, sending an email to which the image data is attached to the user and deleting the image data that has exceeded the predetermined storage period without transmitting the image data to the external apparatus.
