Abstract
A method and system for extracting values representative of modulation signal components from a modulated signal, the modulated signal containing a modulation signal, including developing a local clock signal which correlates in time to the modulated signal and includes a number of phase sectors per cycle and converting the modulated signal into a current that is representative of the signal and routing the current to the inverting input of an amplifier and charging one of a plurality of capacitive devices during each phase sector and sequentially connecting the capacitive devices between the output of the amplifier and the inverting input of the amplifier in non-overlapping sequences, the total of sequences being equal to one full cycle of the clock.

A method for extracting values representative of modulation signal components from a modulated signal, the method comprising:
- developing a local clock signal which correlates in time to the modulated signal and includes a plurality of non-overlapping phase sectors per cycle;
- converting the modulated signal into a current that is a replica of the modulated signal,
- directing the current to an amplifier having an inverting input and an output to charge one of a plurality of capacitive devices during each phase sector;
- and
- sequentially connecting the capacitive devices between the output of the amplifier and the input of the amplifier in non-overlapping sequences equal to one full cycle of the local clock.
An apparatus for extracting values representative of modulation signal components from a modulated signal, the apparatus comprising:
- means for developing a local clock signal which correlates in time to the modulated signal and includes a plurality of non-overlapping phase sectors per cycle;
- an amplifier having an output and an inverting input;
- means for developing a current representative of the modulated signal, said current applied to the inverting input of the amplifier;
- a plurality of capacitive devices at least equal to the plurality of phase sectors per cycle;
- and
- a plurality of switches at least equal to the plurality of phase sectors per cycle, each switch being in series with one of the plurality of capacitive devices, wherein each serial combination of capacitive device and switch is in parallel with each other serial combination of capacitive device and switch and the amplifier between the output and the inverting input.
A method for extracting values representative of modulation signal components from a modulated signal, the method comprising:
- developing a local clock signal which includes a plurality of phase sectors per cycle;
- converting the modulated signal into a current that is a replica of the modulated signal;
- directing the current to an amplifier having an inverting input and an output to charge one of a plurality of capacitive devices during each phase sector;
- sequentially connecting the capacitive devices between the output of the amplifier and the input of the amplifier in a sequence spanning one full cycle of the local clock;
- and
- sampling the charge accumulated on one of the plurality of capacitive devices to obtain each value representative of a modulation signal component.
