Abstract
A shutter mechanism for a camera of an electronic device can include a slider mechanism that enables the shutter mechanism to operate between an open state in which a lens of the camera is exposed and a closed state that blocks the lens of the camera. The slider mechanism comprises a one or more slider appendages that operate the shutter mechanism between the open state and the closed state. Each of the one or more slider appendages slide along a horizontal axis in relation to a horizontal axis corresponding to the lens of the camera.
Claims18
A shutter mechanism for a camera of an electronic device, comprising:
- a slider mechanism that enables the shutter mechanism to operate between an open state in which a lens of the camera is exposed and a closed state that blocks the lens of the camera;
- wherein the slider mechanism comprises one or more slider appendages, each of the one or more slider appendages being operable to move the shutter mechanism between the open state and the closed state, wherein each of the one or more slider appendages is configured to move along a different horizontal axis than a horizontal axis corresponding to the lens of the camera;
- and
- wherein each of the one or more slider appendages includes one or more locking features, and
- wherein for each of the one or more slider appendages, each locking feature is structured to engage with and disengage from a corresponding locking feature of the shutter mechanism or the electronic device, as the slider mechanism is moved between the open state and the closed state.
An electronic device comprising:
- a housing;
- a lens provided in a portion of the housing;
- and
- a shutter mechanism, the shutter mechanism comprising:
- a slider mechanism that enables the shutter mechanism to operate between an open state in which a lens of a camera is exposed and a closed state that blocks the lens of the camera;
- wherein the slider mechanism comprises one or more slider appendages, each of the one or more slider appendages being operable to move the shutter mechanism between the open state and the closed state, wherein each of the one or more slider appendages is configured to move along a different horizontal axis than a horizontal axis corresponding to the lens of the camera;
- and
- wherein each of the one or more slider appendages includes one or more locking features, and
- wherein for each of the one or more slider appendages, each locking feature is structured to engage with and disengage from a corresponding locking feature of the shutter mechanism or the electronic device, as the slider mechanism is moved between the open state and the closed state.
