Systems and methods for removing undesirable material within a circulatory system

A method for treatment of clot material within a vasculature of a body, the method comprising:

• placing at least a portion of a suction cannula at a treatment site;
• aspirating at least a portion of the clot material and blood through the suction cannula and into a container coupled to the suction cannula;
• coupling the container in fluid communication with a filter assembly and a pump;
• driving the portion of the clot material and aspirated blood from the container through the filter assembly into the pump, wherein the filter assembly is configured to filter the portion of the clot material from the aspirated blood to produce filtered blood;
• coupling the pump in fluid communication with a reinfusion cannula at least partially positioned within the vasculature;
• and
• driving the filtered blood from the pump through the reinfusion cannula into the vasculature.

A method for treatment of undesirable material within a vasculature of a body, the method comprising:

• placing a first cannula at a treatment site within the vasculature;
• placing a secondary device coaxially through a lumen of the first cannula and within the vasculature distal to the undesirable material;
• expanding an expandable element coupled to a distal end of the secondary device;
• disrupting at least a portion of the undesirable material by engaging at least a portion of the undesirable material with the expandable element;
• aspirating at least the portion of the undesirable material that was disrupted by the expandable element and blood through the first cannula and into a first container coupled to the first cannula;
• coupling the first container in fluid communication with a filter assembly and a second container;
• driving the portion of the undesirable material and the aspirated blood from the first container through the filter assembly into the second container, wherein the filter assembly is configured to filter the portion of the undesirable material from the aspirated blood to produce filtered blood;
• coupling the second container in fluid communication with a second catheter at least partially positioned within the vasculature;
• and
• driving the filtered blood from the second container through the second catheter into the vasculature.
