Laminated papermaking belt

A method of manufacturing a laminated papermaking belt comprising the steps of:

• a. providing a woven support structure comprising a plurality of woven ridges lying in a first x-y plane and a plurality of woven valleys lying in a second x-y plane below the first x-y plane;
• b. providing a first and a second process roll, the first and second process rolls being rotatable about their respective axes and the axes being parallel to one another;
• c. mounting the woven support structure around the first and second process rolls;
• d. providing a pressure roll opposite the first process roll and forming a nip therebetween;
• e. rotating the first and second process rolls in a common direction;
• f. providing an apertured nonwoven sheet;
• and
• g. feeding the apertured nonwoven sheet into the nip thereby attaching the apertured nonwoven sheet to at least a portion of the plurality of woven ridges;
• whereby attaching the apertured nonwoven sheet to at least a portion of the plurality of woven ridges creates a void between the apertured nonwoven layer and the plurality of valleys and the void has a void height (D) from 0.10 to 2.80 mm.
