Abstract
A woven plastic bag having features that further prevent leakage of contents out of the bag, or infestation of organisms into the contents of the bag is provided. In various aspects the bag can be fabricated from a woven polymer layer and a film layer, can form a pinch bottom bag, and can have one or both sides include graphics and/or printing. The bag can also provide a top end and/or a bottom end either or both of which provide a discrete area which may contain discrete graphics and/or printing. The bag can have an end with a step cut configuration, wherein the step cut configuration includes one or more angled and/or radial cuts between separations.
Claims19
A bag comprising:
- a front wall comprising a first end and a second end and a first side and a second side;
- a back wall comprising a first end and a second end and a first side and a second side;
- and
- a first side wall and a second side wall, wherein the first side wall comprises a first front side wall and a first back side wall that connect the first side of the front wall to the first side of the back wall and the second side wall comprises a second front side wall and a second back side wall that connect the second side of the front wall to the second side of the back wall, and wherein the first side wall and the second side wall each comprise a first end and a second end;
- wherein each of the front wall, the back wall, the first side wall, and the second side wall comprise (i) a first layer comprising a woven polymer and (ii) a second layer comprising a polymer film;
- wherein the first end of the bag comprises a step cut configuration formed from the first end of each of the first front side wall and the second front side wall extending farther than the first end of the front wall, the first end of each of the first back side wall and the second back side wall extending farther than the first end of each of the first front side wall and the second front side wall, and the first end of the back wall extending farther than the first end of each of the first back side wall and the second back side wall, the step cut configuration having a plurality of connections, each connection of the plurality of connections being formed to extend between and to connect one of a first edge of the back wall, the first back side wall, the first front side wall, and the front wall with a respective second edge of the back wall, the second back side wall, the second front side wall, and the front wall;
- wherein the plurality of connections each define an angled connection;
- and
- wherein each angled connection is linear and between 15° and 75° with respect to the first end of the front wall.

A bag comprising:
- a front wall, a back wall, a first side wall, and a second side wall, each comprising a first layer comprising a woven polymer and a second layer comprising a polymer film, and each further comprising a first end and a second end, wherein the back wall comprises a seam which comprises overlapping portions of the back wall, and wherein a first end of the seam comprises a cut-out and a second end of the seam comprises a tab;
- wherein each of the first side wall and the second side wall further comprise a gusset having a fold line extending from the second end to the first end dividing the first side wall into a first front side wall and a first back side wall and dividing the second side wall into a second front side wall and a second back side wall;
- and wherein the first end of the front wall, the back wall, and the first side wall define a step cut configuration, wherein the step cut configuration is formed from an extended portion of the back wall extending farther than an extended portion of the first back side wall, the extended portion of the back wall comprising a first edge and a second edge;
- the extended portion of the first back side wall extending farther than an extended portion of the first front side wall, the extended portion of the first back side wall comprising a first edge and a second edge;
- and the extended portion of the first front side wall extending farther than a first edge of the front wall proximal the first front side wall, the extended portion of the first front side wall comprising a first edge and a second edge;
- and wherein the step cut configuration further comprises at least one of:
- a first curved or angled connection defining a first curve or angle extending from the first edge of the back wall to the second edge of the back wall, a second curved or angled connection defining a second curve or angle extending from the second edge of the back wall to the first edge of the first back side wall, a third curved or angled connection defining a third curve or angle extending from the first edge of the first back side wall to the second edge of the first back side wall, a fourth curved or angular connection defining a fourth curve or angle extending from the second edge of the first back side wall to the first edge of the first front side wall, a fifth curved or angled connection defining a fifth curve or angle extending from the first edge of the first front side wall to the second edge of the first front side wall, and a sixth curved or angular connection defining a sixth curve or angle extending from the second edge of the first front side wall to the first edge of the front wall;
- and wherein each angled connection defines an angle between 15° and 75° with respect to the first end of the front wall.

- a front wall comprising a first end, a second end, a first edge, and a second edge adjacent to the first edge;
- a back wall comprising a first end and a second end;

- wherein at least the first end of the bag comprises a step cut configuration comprising a portion of the front wall proximal the first front side wall extending farther than the first front side wall, and a portion of the first back side wall extending farther than a portion of the back wall proximal the first back side wall;
- wherein the step cut configuration further comprises a plurality of connections, wherein one of the plurality of connections is arranged to connect and extend entirely between each of the first edge and the second edge of the front wall, the second edge of the front wall and the first front side wall, the first edge and the second edge of the first back side wall, and the second edge of the first back side wall and the back wall;
- and
- wherein the plurality of connections defines an alternation of curved radial connections and angled linear connections.
