## Abstract

Disclosed herein is an isolated strain of Lactobacillus rhamnosus LRH05, which is deposited at Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH under an accession number DSM 33616. Also disclosed herein are a composition including the isolated strain of Lactobacillus rhamnosus LRH05 for treating a metabolic syndrome-related disorder and for modifying gut microbiota, and use of the isolated strain of Lactobacillus rhamnosus LRH05 for treating a metabolic syndrome-related disorder and for modifying gut microbiota.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for treating diabetes mellitus, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition containing an isolated strain of Lactobacillus rhamnosus LRH05,
wherein the isolated strain of Lactobacillus rhamnosus LRH05 is deposited at Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH under an accession number DSM 33616.

The method of claim 1, wherein the pharmaceutical composition is in a dosage form for oral administration.

The method of claim 1, wherein the diabetes mellitus is type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
