Sliding component

A sliding component comprising a pair of seal rings which are arranged to rotate relative to each other,

• wherein the seal rings have sliding surfaces, respectively, which are facing each other,
• wherein the sliding surfaces are provided with:
• a land continuously extending in a circumferential direction;
• inward recessed portions recessed in an axial direction, extending to a radially inner side, and open to the radially inner side;
• and
• outward recessed portions recessed in the axial direction, extending to a radially outer side, and open to the radially outer side,
• wherein each of the inward recessed portions has a circumferential width which becomes larger toward the radially inner side,
• wherein the inward recessed portion extends, over an entire radial length thereof, both in a clockwise direction and in a counterclockwise direction with respect to one radial line passing through a radially-outermost end point of the inward recessed portion,
• wherein each of the outward recessed portions has a circumferential width which becomes larger toward the radially outer side, and
• wherein the outward recessed portion extends, over an entire radial length thereof, both in the clockwise direction and in the counterclockwise direction from a radial line passing through a radially-innermost end point of the outward recessed portion.
