Abstract
Provided herein are compositions, methods, systems and/or kits for detection of bacteria expressing enzymes that confer resistance to antimicrobial agents. Certain embodiments of the compositions, methods, systems and/or kits of the present disclosure are related to detection of carbapenemase-producing gram negative bacteria. Certain embodiments of the compositions, methods, systems and/or kits of the present disclosure are related to detection of Ambler Class A, B and/or D carbapenemase-producing enteric and non-fermenting gram negative rod bacteria.
Claims21
A kit for determining the presence of none, one or more Ambler class carbapenemases expressed by enteric bacteria, the kit comprising:
- a plurality of compartments, wherein:
- a first compartment of the plurality of compartments comprises a first test composition, wherein the antibiotic and inhibitor comprise a first concentration of temocillin (TEM), and a carbapenemase inhibitor of ambler class B;
- a second compartment of the plurality of compartments comprises a second test composition, wherein the antibiotic and inhibitors comprise a first concentration of doripenem (DOR), a carbapenemase inhibitor of ambler class C, and a carbapenemase inhibitor of ambler class B;
- a third compartment of the plurality of compartments comprises a third test composition, wherein the antibiotic and inhibitors comprise a first concentration of meropenem (MEM), a carbapenemase inhibitor of ambler class C, and a carbapenemase inhibitor of ambler class A;
- and
- a fourth compartment of the plurality of compartments comprises a fourth test composition, wherein the antibiotic comprises a second concentration of DOR.
