Abstract
Alignment films include a copolymer of a specific vertical alignment monomer and at least one of a specific anthracene-based monomer and a specific benzyl-based monomer.
Claims20
An alignment film for aligning liquid crystals, the alignment film comprising at least a copolymer of:
- a first monomer represented by the following general formula (1)
- where X1 and X2 each independently represent —H, —CH3, or —C2H5, Z represents —O—, —S—, —NH—, —CO—, —COO—, —OCO—, or a direct bond, Y1 and Y2 each independently represent —H, —F, —Cl, —Br, a linear, branched, or cyclic alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, or a linear, branched, or cyclic alkyloxy having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, m represents an integer of 6 to 16, and n represents an integer of 8 to 24;
- and
- at least one of a second monomer represented by the following general formula (2)
- where R1 and R2 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and
- a third monomer represented by the following general formula (3)
- where R3 and R4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.
