A device comprising:
- a handlebar having a longitudinal axis;
- a circular gear radially extending from the handlebar;
- a stem engaging the handlebar such that the handlebar rotates about the longitudinal axis relative to the stem;
- a rack extending between the circular gear and the stem, wherein the rack is configured to mesh with the circular gear;
- and
- a brake operationally coupled to the rack, wherein the brake is configured to be actuated based on the circular gear rotating via the handlebar and causing the rack to move.

A device comprising:
- a handlebar having a longitudinal axis;
- a cam radially extending from the handlebar;
- a cam follower configured to engage the cam;
- a rod extending from the cam follower;
- a stem engaging the handlebar such that the handlebar rotates about the longitudinal axis relative to the stem;
- and
- a brake configured to be actuated in response to the cam follower or the rod configured to engage a braking mechanism housed in or operably connected to the stem based on the cam moving via the handlebar.
