Abstract
Disclosed here is a system enabling users/customers to receive an objective assessment of the performance of a printer. This is accomplished by comparing a quality score of an earlier-in-time image with a quality score of a later-in-time image. A processor analyzes each image based on several criteria and uses various image-analysis methods, to flag errors within an image. A numeric quality score, based on the number of errors, is provided to the user to objectively evaluate whether the printer has degraded or not. Thus, the user can objectively present an argument to a salesperson or manufacturer that the user is due a remedy.
Claims20
A method of scoring quality of a printer, the method comprising:
- capturing a first set of multiple frames that are at least partially of a first printout;
- compiling the first set of multiple frames into a first image;
- capturing a second set of multiple frames that are at least partially of a second printout that is printed at a later time than the first printout;
- compiling the second set of multiple frames into a second image;
- evaluating a property of the first and second images;
- and
- providing, based on the evaluated property, a first numeric quality score for the first image and a second numeric quality score for the second image.
A method for quantitatively assessing quality of a printer, the method comprising:
- acquiring a first set of frames, each of which includes at least part of a first printout that is produced by a printer;
- compiling the first set of frames into a first image of the first printout;
- producing a first numeric score by evaluating a property of the first image;
- acquiring a second set of frames, each of which includes at least part of a second printout that is produced by the printer;
- compiling the second set of frames into a second image of the second printout;
- and
- producing a second numeric score by evaluating the property of the second image.
A method performed by a processor, the method comprising:
- acquiring
- (i) a first set of frames, each of which includes at least part of a first printout that is produced by a printer, and
- (ii) a second set of frames, each of which includes at least part of a second printout that is produced by the printer subsequent to the first printout;
- compiling the first set of frames into a first image of the first printout;
- compiling the second set of frames into a second image of the second printout;
- evaluating a property of the first and second images, so as to produce a first numeric score that is representative of quality of the first image and a second numeric score that is representative of quality of the second image;
- and
- comparing the second numeric score to the first numeric score to establish whether the printer has an issue that needs to be resolved.
