Abstract
The present disclosure relates to compounds that are capable of inhibiting the mitochondrial pyruvate carrier and promoting hair growth. The disclosure further relates to methods of promoting hair growth or treating conditions or disorders affecting hair growth, such as baldness or alopecia.

A compound of formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof:
- wherein:
- each A is independently CH, CR4, or N;
- Y is carboxyl, ester, amide, or
- R2 is CN;
- R3 is aralkyl substituted by two R5 in the meta positions, wherein each R5 is independently selected from alkyl, alkoxy, and halo;
- each R4 is independently alkyl, carboxyl, halo, hydroxy, ester, or CN;
- R7 is hydrogen, alkyl, halo, hydroxyl, alkoxy, or acyloxy;
- and
- R10 is hydrogen or alkyl.
