Abstract
A metadata processing method includes a network interface card in a storage device that receives an input/output (I/O) request, where the I/O request includes a data read request or a data write request; the network interface card executes a metadata processing task corresponding to the I/O request; and when determining that the metadata processing task fails to be executed, the network interface card requests a CPU in the storage device to execute the metadata processing task.
Claims20
A method implemented by a network interface card in a storage device, wherein the method comprises:
- receiving an input/output (I/O) request comprising a data read request or a data write request;
- making an attempt to execute a metadata processing task corresponding to the I/O request, wherein an address length of a logical address in the data read request exceeds a length threshold when the attempt fails;
- and
- requesting, in response to the attempt failing and the I/O request being the data read request, a central processing unit (CPU) in the storage device to execute the metadata processing task.
A storage device comprising:
- a network interface card configured to:
- receive an input/output (I/O) request comprising a data read request or a data write request;
- make an attempt to execute a metadata processing task corresponding to the I/O request, wherein an address length of a logical address in the data read request exceeds a length threshold when the attempt fails;
- and
- request, in response to the attempt failing and the I/O request being the data read request, to execute the metadata processing task;
- and
- a central processing unit (CPU) coupled to the network interface card and configured to execute the metadata processing task based on the I/O request.
A computer program product comprising computer-executable instructions that are stored on non-transitory computer-readable storage medium and that, when executed by a processor, cause a network interface card in a storage device to:
- receive an input/output (I/O) request comprising a data read request or a data write request;
- make an attempt to execute a metadata processing task corresponding to the I/O request, wherein an address length of a logical address in the data read request exceeds a length threshold when the attempt fails;
- and
- request, in response to the attempt failing and the I/O request being the data read request, a central processing unit (CPU) in the storage device to execute the metadata processing task.
