Interlocked pay off reel design

A system, comprising:

• a flange comprising a groove configured to hold an end of a cable spool;
• and
• an endplate comprising an engagement mechanism configured to hold the flange and to permit rotation of the flange about the engagement mechanism,
• wherein
• the endplate has a substantially square or rectangular shape, and
• the engagement mechanism comprises flexible pins arranged in a circular formation and configured to engage with an engagement hole formed on the flange.

A cable reel, comprising:

• a first assembly comprising a first flange connected to a first endplate by a first engagement mechanism formed on the first endplate;
• a second assembly comprising a second flange connected to a second endplate by a second engagement mechanism formed on the second endplate;
• wherein
• the first flange and the second flange comprise respective grooves that are configured to hold respective ends of a cable spool,
• the first endplate and the second endplate have a substantially square or rectangular shape, and
• the first engagement mechanism and the second engagement mechanism comprise flexible pins arranged in a circular formation and configured to engage with a first engagement hole and a second engagement hole of the first flange and the second flange, respectively, and to permit rotation of the first flange and the second flange about the first engagement mechanism and the second engagement mechanism.
