A method of reducing inflammation in skin, the method comprising topically applying to inflamed skin a composition comprising 0.0001% to 5% by weight of an aqueous, alcoholic, or aqueous-alcoholic extract from Ipomoea batatas, wherein inflammation is decreased in the inflamed skin.
