Abstract
A substrate usable with a double-side adhesive strip to suspend the substrate to a wall surface. The substrate can have one or more access holes located within an outer perimeter of the substrate. Each access hole has an inner perimeter inwardly of the outer perimeter that is sized and shaped to allow a tab of the double-sided adhesive strip to be extracted through the inner perimeter, after the substrate is suspended on the wall surface. Various articles can attach to the suspended substrate, such as through magnetic attachment, a hook, or a shelf.
Claims23
A substrate configured to non-destructively attach on a wall surface, said substrate comprising:
- a body having a shape and an outer perimeter with edges having fixed lengths defining the shape of the body, the body is generally planar and having an exposed surface and a backside surface opposing the exposed surface, the body being sized and shaped for use with an electrical power strip having two spaced apart receiving slots, including a first receiving slot and a second receiving slot, that are spaced from one another by a first distance;
- (1) an access hole located within the outer perimeter, said access hole comprising an inner perimeter, inward of the outer perimeter, having a maximum width and a maximum height along an X-Y plane, or (2) a through cutout formed along one of the edges of the outer perimeter to define a recessed space having a maximum width and a maximum height along an X-Y plane;
- two spaced apart mounting pins projecting from within the outer perimeter and away from the exposed surface of the generally planar body, the two spaced apart pins comprising a first mounting pin and a second mounting pin spaced from one another by a second distance and wherein the second distance and the first distance are approximately equal to facilitate insertion of the first mounting pin into the first receiving slot and the second mounting pin into the second receiving slot when mounting the electrical power strip to the body;
- wherein when the body has the access hole and when the substrate is used with a double-sided adhesive strip, the maximum width and the maximum height of the inner perimeter are sufficiently large for retrieving a tab with an end edge of the double-sided adhesive strip adhered to the backside surface of the substrate;
- and
- wherein in a mounted position on a wall surface, no part of the body extends rearward of the backside surface beyond a thickness of the double-sided adhesive strip.
A substrate configured to non-destructively attach on a wall surface and supporting an electrical power strip, said substrate comprising:
- a body having an outer perimeter defining a shape of the body, an exposed surface, and a backside surface opposing the exposed surface, and wherein the outer perimeter having a plurality of edges;
- two spaced mounting pins projecting from within the outer perimeter and outwardly away from the exposed surface, the two spaced apart mounting pins including a first mounting pin and a second mounting pin;
- the electrical power strip comprising a body having two spaced apart mounting holes, which include a first mounting hole and a second mounting hole;
- wherein the first mounting pin projects into the first mounting hole and the second mounting pin projects into the second mounting hole;
- and
- wherein when in a mounted position on a wall surface, no part of the body extends rearward of the backside surface beyond a thickness of a double-sided adhesive strip.
A method of mounting a substrate to a wall surface and mounting an electrical power strip to the substrate, said method comprising:
- adhering a body of the substrate to a wall surface with a first double-sided adhesive strip and a second double-sided adhesive strip, said body having an outer perimeter defining a shape of the body, a first mounting pin, a second mounting pin, an exposed surface, and a backside surface opposing the exposed surface, and wherein the outer perimeter of the body having a plurality of edges;
- projecting the first mounting pin into a first mounting hole on a body of the electrical power strip and the second mounting pin into a second mounting hole on the body of the electrical power trip, the first and second mounting pins projecting from within the outer perimeter and outwardly away from the exposed surface of the body of the substrate;
- and
- wherein in a mounted position on the wall surface, no part of the body extends rearward of the backside surface beyond a thickness of the first and second double-sided adhesive strips.
