Abstract
A method is provided for controlling a pump driven by a motor with the motor connected to a drive. The method can include determining a parameter value related to a fault condition, comparing the parameter value to a threshold value, and adjusting a speed control of the drive based on the comparison of the determined parameter to the threshold value.
Claims6
A method of controlling a pump driven by a motor, the motor connected to a drive, the method comprising:
- determining a water pressure value via a pressure transducer in communication with a controller connected to the drive;
- calculating a pressure error based on a comparison between the determined water pressure value and a desired water pressure value;
- implementing a proportional/integral/derivative (PID) method using the pressure error as an input;
- updating a speed control command to adjust the drive based on the pressure error;
- setting a low band pressure threshold;
- determining if the motor is off;
- in response to a determination that the motor is off,
- monitoring the water pressure value;
- determining that the water pressure value is below the low band pressure threshold;
- and
- restarting the motor via the controller.
