## Abstract

An oscillating positive expiratory pressure system including an oscillating positive expiratory pressure device, an adapter coupled to the device, and a control module coupled to the adapter. The control module provides real time information about the use of the device, and provides feedback and storage of the information to improve the use thereof.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An oscillating positive expiratory pressure system comprising:
an oscillating positive expiratory pressure device comprising an inhalation port and a user interface port;
a mouthpiece;
an adapter coupled to and between the mouthpiece and the user interface port of the oscillating positive expiratory pressure device, wherein the adapter defines a flow channel; and
a control module coupled to the adapter and in communication with the flow channel, the control module comprising:
a housing cantilevered over a top of the oscillating positive expiratory pressure device, wherein a longitudinal axis of the oscillating positive expiratory pressure device extends through the housing, wherein the longitudinal axis is orthogonal to the flow channel;
a pressure and/or flow sensor disposed in the housing and configured to determine the pressure and/or flow in the flow channel;
a printed circuit board disposed in the housing and operably connected to the pressure and/or flow sensor;
a battery disposed in the housing and operably connected to the printed circuit board; and
a visual display coupled to the housing and operably connected to the printed circuit board, wherein the visual display is configured to provide feedback to a user.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The oscillating positive expiratory pressure system of claim 1 wherein the housing comprises an upper casing connected to a lower casing.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The oscillating positive expiratory pressure system of claim 1 wherein the adapter is removably coupled between the mouthpiece and the oscillating positive expiratory pressure device.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The oscillating positive expiratory pressure system of claim 1 wherein the adapter comprises a first end coupled to the oscillating positive expiratory pressure device, a second end opposite the first end coupled to the mouthpiece, wherein the flow channel is defined between the first and second ends, and a port communicating with the flow channel between the first and second ends.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The oscillating positive expiratory pressure system of claim 4 further comprising a flexible membrane disposed across the port and defining a chamber adjacent the pressure and/or flow sensor.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The oscillating positive expiratory pressure system of claim 1 wherein the control module is releasably coupled to the adapter.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The oscillating positive expiratory pressure system of claim 1 wherein the control module further comprises a data port, including one or more of an SD or USB port.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The oscillating positive expiratory pressure system of claim 1 wherein the visual display comprises an LED.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The oscillating positive expiratory pressure system of claim 1 wherein the printed circuit board comprises an accelerometer.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The oscillating positive expiratory pressure system of claim 1 wherein the control module comprises a microphone.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The oscillating positive pressure system of claim 1 wherein the oscillating positive expiratory pressure device control module does not extend rearwardly past an end of the inhalation port.

### Claim 12

A feedback system for use with an oscillating positive expiratory pressure device having a port and a mouthpiece, the feedback system comprising:
an adapter configured to be coupled to and between the mouthpiece and the port of the oscillating positive expiratory pressure device, wherein the adapter comprises a flow channel; and
