Abstract
The invention discloses a method for a cellular communications system, in which traffic is sent in frames, each frame comprising a first number of subframes, with a second number of said subframes being available for at least either uplink or downlink traffic. At least one of said second number of subframes is made to comprise at least three parts, as follows: One part which is utilized for uplink traffic, One part which is utilized for downlink traffic, One part which is utilized as a guard period, with said guard period part being scheduled between the uplink and the downlink parts. The duration of at least two of said three parts may be varied to fit the current system need.
Claims27
A method for use in a cellular Time Division Duplex, TDD, communications system, the method comprising:
- sending and receiving traffic in radio frames, each radio frame comprising a plurality of subframes, said subframes being available for at least either uplink or downlink traffic and having a same subframe length, wherein at least one subframe of said plurality of subframes is placed at a transition between downlink and uplink, wherein said at least one subframe is made to consist of three parts, as follows:
- one part which is utilized for downlink traffic,
- one part which is utilized as a guard period, and
- one part which is utilized for uplink traffic,
- with said guard period part being scheduled between the downlink and the uplink parts, such that a total sum of a duration of the downlink part, the guard period and the uplink part constitute the total subframe length, wherein the duration of at least two of said three parts of said at least one subframe may be varied.
A controlling node for use in a cell of a cellular Time Division Duplex, TDD, communications system, the controlling node comprising:
- means configured to send and receive traffic in radio frames, with each radio frame comprising a plurality of subframes, said subframes being available for at least either uplink or downlink traffic and having a same subframe length;
- means configured to send and receive in at least one subframe of said plurality of subframes, said at least one subframe being placed at a transition between downlink and uplink, said at least one subframe consisting of three parts, as follows:
- one part which is utilized for downlink traffic,
- one part which is utilized as a guard period, and
- one part which is utilized for uplink traffic,
- means configured to schedule said guard period part between the downlink and the uplink parts such that a total sum of a duration of the downlink part, the guard period and the uplink part constitute the total subframe length;
- and
- means configured to vary the duration of at least two of said three parts of said at least one subframe.
A terminal for use in a cell of a cellular Time Division Duplex, TDD, communications system, the terminal comprising:
- means configured to send and receive traffic in radio frames, with each radio frame comprising a plurality of subframes, said subframes being available for at least either uplink or downlink traffic and having a same subframe length;
- means configured to send and receive in at least one subframe of said plurality of subframes, said at least one subframe being placed at a transition between downlink and uplink, said at least one subframe consisting of three parts, as follows:
- one part which is utilized for downlink traffic,
- one part which is utilized as a guard period, and
- one part which is utilized for uplink traffic,
- means configured to schedule said guard period part between the downlink and the uplink parts such that a total sum of a duration of the downlink part, the guard period and the uplink part constitute the total subframe length;
- and
- means configured to vary the duration of at least two of said three parts of said at least one subframe.
