Abstract
An encoding apparatus partitions a digital image into multiple regions for subsequent encoding. A first encryption code is associated with a first region, a second encryption code is associated with a second region and the first code, and a third code is associated with the first code, the second code and a third region. An authentication apparatus authenticates the digital image in an inverse process.
Claims21
A method for authenticating a previously encoded digital image, comprising:
- receiving the previously encoded digital image, the previously encoded digital image comprising a plurality of pixel rows;
- partitioning the previously encoded digital image into a first plurality of pixel rows, a second plurality of pixel rows, and a remaining row of pixels;
- extracting a first code from a first subset of pixel locations in the remaining row of pixels;
- excluding the first subset of pixel locations in the remaining row, extracting first pixel data from all other pixels in the remaining row of pixels;
- hashing the first pixel data using a first hashing function to generate a first comparison code;
- and
- comparing the first code to the first comparison code to determine if the remaining row of pixels has been altered.
A apparatus for authenticating a previously encoded digital image, comprising:
- a processor;
- and
- a memory comprising processor executable code that, when executed by the processor, configures the apparatus to:
- receive the previously encoded digital image, the previously encoded digital image comprising a plurality of pixel rows;
- partition the previously encoded digital image into a first plurality of pixel rows, a second plurality of pixel rows, and a remaining row of pixels;
- extract a first code from a first subset of pixel locations in the remaining row of pixels;
- exclude the first subset of pixel locations and extract first pixel data from all other pixels in the remaining row of pixels;
- hash the first pixel data using a first hashing function to generate a first comparison code;
- and
- compare the first code to the first comparison code to determine if the remaining row of pixels has been altered.
An article of manufacture, comprising a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium containing instructions that, when executed by a machine configures the machine to perform operations, comprising:
- receiving a previously encoded digital image comprising a plurality of pixel rows;
- partitioning the previously encoded digital image into a first plurality of pixel rows, a second plurality of pixel rows, and a remaining row of pixels;
- extracting a first code from a first subset of pixel locations in the remaining row of pixels;
- excluding the first subset of pixel locations in the remaining row, extracting first pixel data from all other pixels in the remaining row of pixels;
- hashing the first pixel data using a first hashing function to generate a first comparison code;
- and
- comparing the first code to the first comparison code to determine if the remaining row of pixels has been altered.
